Over the past few months we have been hard at work giving Kook Goop a facelift. We’ve designed a sick new box and made the shape of the wax a bit less cupcakeish.

For those of you who don’t know, Kook Goop is our very own environmentally-friendly surfwax that we brew up in our kitchen. Kook Goop is made entirely out of organic and Australian sourced ingredients. The main ingredient of Kook Goop is Beeswax which is ethically collected in Western Australia.

Kook Goop comes in a variety of colours and smells like passionfruit, pawpaw with a little hint of honey.

What makes Kook Goop better than other surf wax?

Most other surf wax is made of paraffin wax. Paraffin comes from the sludge the bottom of crude oil barrels. You wouldn’t want to eat this stuff. While it inherently contains a lot of toxins, it’s further bleached to get its initial white colour and treated with chemicals like benzene and toluene, which are known carcinogens. Paraffin is a non-renewable resource that releases pollutants onto the land and into the ocean. It may be cheap, but it comes at the price of being a total smole. As you surf, paraffin surf wax breaks down into micro-plastics that will be gobbled up by our marine friends. This causes bloating which makes the animal feel full and stops it from eating any more. This can eventually cause the animal to become malnourished and possibly die.

Paraffin wax is toxic, carcinogenic, a pollutant, a solvent, not renewable, unsustainable, non-degradable and a hazard to marine life, land animals and humans. On the other hand, Kook Goop is entirely organic, ethically sourced, renewable, non pollutant, smells amazing, is good for you, good for the turtles and good for your stick.
